International Sports
Scientifically proven high-performance feed
St. Hippolyt’s International Sports feed range has been specifically designed for high-performance horses, and has been developed in collaboration with the internationally renowned Kentucky Equine Research Institute (KER). All International Sports’ feed formulas are based on sound scientific principles regarding equine performance and have proven themselves at the highest competitive levels of five Olympic events, races and endurance riding events.
• Low starch and sugar content
• High in fats
• Performance-enhancing mineral and vitamin content
• Free from herbs
Within the world of horse racing and sports, KER – the Kentucky Equine Research Institute – is very firmly associated with high performance and success. All of KER’s research is conducted only with a view to improve horses’ health and physical condition. KER’s applied research includes assessing breathing-related and blood parameters while horses are running on high-speed treadmill exercisers; and conducting nutrient analyses and performing bone density measurements in KER’s own analytic laboratory. Working in collaboration with horse keepers and partners from the feed industry, these findings and KER’s knowledge is then used to improve related equine care practices and principles. In Germany, KER’s partner is St. Hippolyt.

Scientifically proven
St. Hippolyt horse feeds only contain moderate amounts of starch. The reason, partly, for this is to improve their digestibility. By now however, KER has provided more than ample scientific proof in support of this approach, because feeds that are high in starch, and that consequently have a very high glycemic index, unnecessarily elevate blood sugar and thus give rise to insulin-related fluctuations in performance, loss of fitness and lack of energy reserves. However, KER also found that feeds that are low in starch, but high in fat and fibres, slightly raise muscle lactate and carbon dioxide production, and thus boost cardiac and endurance performance. Low-starch feeds, furthermore, have also been found to reduce sweat production, to improve breathing, and to reduce digestive problems. The reduction in the amount of insulin released into the blood stream, and the associated lower rise in blood cortisol levels, moreover improves stress tolerance and promotes a calm temper.
One product range – three products
St. Hippolyt’s extremely successful collaboration with KER has resulted in the development of three outstanding products: International Sports Olympic Claim, Endurance and Racing. All three of these feeds are based on lightly fermented fruit and vegetable-derived fibres that are treated with cold pressed oils using a special high-pressure processing procedure. Their cereal contents, on the other hand, have been specifically tailored to the respective needs associated with the sport they are designed for. They are furthermore enriched with a range of minerals specifically aimed at boosting the energy metabolism of high- performance horses, and contain natural vitamin E – which has been scientifically proven to be vastly superior to synthetic vitamin E.
Olympic Claim
The high-performance feed for all horses competing in the classical equestrian disciplines – including dressage, jumping, versatility, western or driving. High performance requires more energy, a high ability to concentrate and strong nerves.
Endurance
Endurance riding requires an extremely high level of stamina and a lot of oxygen over hours at a time. This makes it vital to keep lactic acid production low and to use feeds with low glycemic indexes and low carbohydrate contents.
Racing
For instant, high-performance: The feed for race and trot racing horses
