Equigard

Grainless, high-fibre muesli

Equigard is a grainless, high-fibre muesli specifically designed for balancing the energy intake of horses that require a particularly low starch and sugar diet. This includes horses suffering from Equine Metabolic Syndrome, laminitis, muscle problems such as Tying Up, PSSM and rhabdomyolysis, as well as Cushing’s syndrome and stomach ulcers.

• Low in starch and sugar
• Contains a special range of minerals designed to stabilise carbohydrate and fat metabolism
• High volume – low energy content

The power of research
According to the latest research, horses suffering from muscle problems (Tying Up, PSSM) and horses susceptible to laminitis, metabolic or Cushing’s syndrome, should only be fed a highly limited amount of nonstructural carbohydrates such as grain starch and sugar. Equigard has been specifically designed to address this problem and makes an ideal supplemental feed for horses suffering from the above problems.

Equigard contains approx. 80% less starch and sugar than oats and has been specifically formulated to have a very low energy content. It contains a range of structural carbohydrates that are highly digestible and readily absorbed, and is rich in valuable Omega 3 fatty acids.

Apart from its balanced mineral content, Equigard also features a balanced range of micronutrients, because vital nutrients such as magnesium, zinc, copper, Manganeseese, Seleniumium, Ω-3 fatty acids, lecithin, natural antioxidants such as vitamin E, and fruit flavonoids are particularly effective in improving insulin sensitivity and in stabilising blood sugar, carbohydrate and fat metabolism.

Ideally suited for horses susceptible to laminitis,
EMS, Cushing’s syndrome and Tying Up

Equigard has been specially formulated to benefit horses suffering from the above problems as well as for use as a supplement for overweight horses on restricted diets. Equigard should be fed together with hay, straw and/or restricted access to grazing. If, to facilitate weight loss, Equigard is fed only in small quantities, we recommend adding MicroVital to your horse’s feed rations to ensure that all of its vitamin and mineral requirements are adequately met. The higher energy requirements of hardworking horses should preferable be met using native oil, oil seeds and quickly fermenting fibres (e.g. beet fibre), for which we recommend a combination feed ration comprising Struktur-Energetikum and HippoLinol. Equigard also makes an ideal feed for stabled horses.

FEEDING RECOMMENDATION
Small horses, breeds requiring little feed and horses on a reduction diet: 0.5 - 1 kg.

In the case of increased energy requirements (performance horses) do not add cereals but Wiesencobs and vegetable oil, for example, whilst gradually increasing the dosage.
