Hesta Mix

Especially proven in the feeding of special breeds and Baroque horses. Amongst other ingredients, Hesta Mix contains a high proportion of zinc, copper and selenium. These trace elements - primarily as a component of enzymes - activate the metabolism for a glossy coat, clear skin, stable immune system and healthy psyche.

The right feed for special breeds

Special breeds, ponies or horses with particularly low feed requirements are often adequately supplied with energy by a small amount of nutritional feed. However, when feed is adapted to energy requirements the provision of essential vital substances and body building substances is neglected. Calcium-rich mineral feed supplements do not meet the actual nutritional needs of these horses. This leads to symptoms of deficiency in the horse, a more and more frequent occurrence today:

• Inactivity
• Nervousness
• Susceptibility to infections
• Allergic tendencies
• Digestion problems (diarrhoea)
• Lacklustre, shaggy coat
• Poor hoof quality
• Bare patches on flanks and ventral midline
• Itchiness with tail and mane rubbing, particularly in spring and late summer/early
autumn (washing, fungicides and mite treatments do not have a lasting effect)
• Loss of appetite and emaciation in some cases

Hesta Mix

Hesta Mix is a horse feed that is both rich in vital substances and fully meets the high quality standards of St. Hippolyt. The particularly high level of highly-bioavailable micronutrients means that the supply of trace elements can be controlled while providing the horse with an appropriate level of nutritional food. The advantage of organically bound trace elements is that the intestines can more readily absorb them. This allows deficiency problems to be quickly and reliably counterbalanced. Valuable oils from linseed, maize seed meal, caraway seed provides several unsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic acid, alpha linolenic acid and gamma linolenic acid. Combined with the trace elements these are essential for the production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandine.

Problem solved

Experience has shown that Hesta Mix can effectively help eliminate feed-related coat problems, including feed-related eczema, when consistently added to a horse's daily feed ration. The horses which benefit most are Icelandic horses, Fjord horses, Haflingers, Arabians, Friesians, Iberians, Tinkers and Shires that are kept outside. It is essential that serious mistakes are not made in keeping and caring for horses and in their overall feed supply. For example, horses with coat and eczema problems should not be permanently kept on grazing pastures with plenty of feed because robust horses and steppe horses are used to having little feed and as a result they usually receive too much protein at our latitudes.

Feed Hesta Mix daily

Hesta Mix provides the keeper of small horses, outdoor horses and special breeds with a high quality, balanced daily feeding option. The supply of any additional minerals should be restricted to giving the horse MicroVital.

Hesta Mix Classic

A complete pellet with highly available trace elements which is tried-and-tested, particularly with larger breeds e.g. Friesians, Lusitanos, Arabians, Paso Peruanos and cold-blooded horses. It is important not to feed less than the recommended feed ration of 1 kg per horse per day. Large horses that were already heavily emaciated have been successfully fed with this feedstuff, particularly when shedding their coat, as have horses suffering from the above mentioned deficiencies. In these cases, the horse should be fed approximately 2 kg of Hesta Mix Classic with oats, hay and straw. Small working horses require 1 kg of Hesta Classic per day - with hay and straw of course.

Hesta Mix Müsli

This appealing, complete muesli should, like Hesta Mix Classic, be fed to horses with a nutritional feed requirement greater than 600g per day.

Hesta Mix light energy

Some horses rapidly put on weight when fed with nutritional feed. As a result, there is another type of Hesta Mix - Hesta Mix light energy, which is low in energy but still particularly rich in micronutrients. Just 500g per day has proven to be effective, particularly in smaller horse breeds such as Haflingers, Icelandic horses, Fjord horses and Shetland ponies, which are susceptible to feed-related eczema. Extreme deficiencies in horses with low feed requirements can additionally be counterbalanced with MicroVital.

Hesta Plus Zink

Extreme zinc deficit situations may manifest themselves in severe itching, mallenders or wounds that refuse to heal. In cases such as these, in addition to the basic feeding of Hesta Mix, a veterinarian should be consulted with regard to the supplementary feeding of Hesta plus Zink (see page 68/69 for Hesta Plus products). Eczema with proven, significant deficits in copper, selenium or manganese can benefit from the corresponding Hesta Plus preparations, which are available from the veterinarian.
